Inside the New Jersey "Centering Palestine" Teach-In Rejecting "normalization" with "Zionists" with special guest Nerdeen Kiswani of extremist org WithinOurLifetime
This weekend, TeachingwhileMuslim, Educators for Palestinian Liberation and Thuraya Zeidan held a "Centering Palestine" Teach-In
This weekend, the Palestinian American Community Center in Clifton, New Jersey held a “Teach-In” featuring TeachingwhileMuslim, Educators for Palestinian Liberation, and Thuraya Zeidan of Decolonize the Classroom. Nerdeen Kiswani of WithinOurLifetime also took part.
Kiswani, former president of Students for Justice in Palestine at CUNY, is founder of WithinOurLifetime. She was a central actor in the Columbia encampment and organized protests in NYC which glorified terrorists, and has called Israel an oppressor of not only Palestinians but of people all over the world.
Israel and Israelis were referred to as “colonizers”, “settler colonialists”, “oppressors” , Zionists were “genocide deniers”, and the gist of the event was to reject “normalization” with Zionists - in other words, reject dialogue.
For background on the Teach-In, see our previous post.
Attendees heard an interesting melange of far-left and islamist ideology
Video from Teach-in:
In this video, Thuraya Zeidan, of Decolonize the Classroom, breaks down the Al-Thawabet (principles) which includes a rejection of normalization, a return of all refugees and a “right to resistance”. The Al-Thawabet that Educators for Palestinian Liberation links to on its instagram page explicitly states armed resistance but this was kept off her slide for this talk.
Here she talks about the “betrayal” from the Arab and Muslim world against Palestinians and Al Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Palestine, the “right of return” for Palestinians to Israel
Here she talks about the “right to resist and the right to revolution” - this is “imperative” as the people have a right to “self-defense.”
Here she criticizes “western feminism” and “western media” for erasing Palestinians for the “benefit of colonial powers.”
Now we hear from Nerdeen Kiswani of WithinOurLifetime talking about the “sacrifices” she has made as a result of her activism for Palestine.
Here Kiswani talks about “normalization” (getting Palestinians and Zionists to have dialogue) - she rejects the idea that differences can be “hashed out through peaceful dialogue” and says Israeli settler colonialism is carrying out an “extermination of the Palestinian people”
Here she says Hillel: “parades itself as a Jewish organization but is actually a Zionist organization.”
“Would you ask a black organization to have an event with a white supremacist or KKK organization?”
”
Here she talks about how dialogue over “colonized” “Hummus” with our “oppressors” is “ a slap in the face.”
Educators for Palestine-NEA (National Education Association) were apparently in attendance
