Massachusetts Teachers Association Allows MTA Rank and File for Palestine Booth at a Union Skills Conference
MTA Rank and File for Palestine fundraises for the Anti-Zionist Sameer Project
The Massachusetts Teachers Association Rank and File for Palestine had its own table at the recent MTA Union Skills Winter Conference. This is an official MTA union event meant to offer “skill-building workshops for union activists and leaders.” In other words, the MTA okayed MTA Rank and FIle 4 Palestine’s booth, even with the group’s track record of extremist, antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric. The MTA continues to allow teachers to promote BDS and teach hate for Israel under the guise of “academic freedom.”
The Massachusetts Teachers Association Rank and File for Palestine is also raising money for the Sameer Project:
So once again, the Massachusetts Teachers Association Rank and File for Palestine has aligned itself with anti-Zionists, this time by advertising an event which supports an organization purporting to be “a donations based aid initiative for Gaza led by Palestinians” while overtly encouraging violence against Israel on their own Instagram page:
Another post mocks Israelis in a plea for diapers:
This is far from the MTA Rank and File for Palestine’s first alliance with questionable organizations. As we previously covered in this substack, they’ve been involved with Islamic Relief USA and Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD). Islamic Relief has ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood and HHRD has partnered with known terrorist organizations.
As we reported here previously, MTA Rank and File for Palestine’s founder Merrie Najimy is a former MTA president. Current president Max Page served as her vice president and they remain close colleagues. No wonder then that Max Page seems comfortable with her anti-Zionist activism and unconcerned about alienating Jewish teachers and parents to whom he should feel some level of accountability. The MTA Rank and File for Palestine booth at the MTA Winter Skills Conference is yet more evidence that this subgroup is embraced and supported by MTA leadership.
