Follow up: Sinwar Mourners Sawsan Jaber and Abeer Ramadan-Shinnawi at the Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts Conference
Apparently Jaber's keynote address has gone down well with attendees...
As previously reported in this substack, Jaber and Shinnawi were to present at the Pennsylvania Council of Teachers and Language Arts Conference. That conference got underway today - regardless of the extremist views Jaber and Shinnawi hold.
I wonder if any of the conference attendees noted that their keynote speaker, Sawsan Jaber, was mourning the death of Hamas murderer Yahya Sinwar? And if they did, did they mind?
Jaber gave her keynote address this morning. Apparently attendees were “captivated” by her opening keynote address which spoke about a “hidden curriculum” of world events and “radical dreaming”.
Then, Jaber held a seminar together with Abeer Ramadan-Shinnawi on “Conversations about Palestine in Education”.
Shinnawi too mourned the death of Sinwar.
Given what we know about Jaber and Shinnawi’s views on Israel and the Palestinian conflict, and given their eulogising of a mass-murderer like Sinwar, one can only imagine the “conversations about Palestine” they wish to take place in the classroom.
Why is advocacy being conflated with education?
Will the PCTELA say anything about the extremists in their midst?
